Today’s BTC news: Galaxy Research’s Alex Thorn reported that 17 BTC stolen in a Coldcard attack were converted to ETH via THORChain and transferred to the offshore gambling site Duel.com. The victim and researchers requested that Duel.com freeze the funds, but the platform declined, stating that law enforcement should handle the case. Thorn said this refusal could be interpreted as aiding theft and may result in legal action.

ChainThink reports that on August 2, according to X platform, Alex Thorn, Head of Research at Galaxy Research, stated that 17 BTC from a Coldcard attack victim who held nearly 30 BTC were split and converted into ETH via THORChain, then deposited into the offshore gambling platform Duel.com.

After tracking, this portion of funds corresponds to approximately 229.72 ETH, valued at around $445,000.

The victim and research team have emailed the known address of Duel.com, providing transaction and deposit information and requesting a freeze on the funds, but the recipient responded that law enforcement must contact the platform.

Thorn stated that Duel.com’s anti-money laundering policy claims to enforce KYC and comply with relevant laws, but its refusal to freeze funds after being notified of verified, attack-related资金 may constitute aiding theft.

He also stated that if the funds are not frozen, the platform will face significant legal action.
