IT Home, October 15: Today, the 300,000th battery pack from Inpaibattery, a subsidiary of GAC Group, officially began mass production.
Feng Yu, Vice President of the GAC Group’s Hyperion Aion Business Unit, responded to Caijing, stating that many automakers currently focus their battery in-house development on PACK integration and BMS application layers, while still relying on external suppliers for core cell technology; in contrast, GAC conducts full-stack in-house research, development, and manufacturing—from materials to cells to PACK.
He believes that mastering the core technologies and product definition of batteries is essential for healthier development. This rollout signifies that GAC's self-developed batteries have entered the stage of large-scale vehicle integration.

According to the Southern Metropolis Daily, GAC Group began R&D on battery systems and BMS in 2011, launched independent development of power battery cells and established a cell pilot production line in 2017, gradually unveiled technologies such as the Arc Battery System Safety Technology, Sponge Silicon Anode Battery, and Ultra-Fast Charging Battery starting in 2021, and completed and commissioned its cell pilot production line in 2022.
To date, the EPB battery R&D team has exceeded 800 members, with cumulative investments surpassing RMB 2 billion and over 700 patents owned. Its intelligent ecological factory has been selected by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology as one of the first batch of “Excellence-Level Intelligent Factories.”
In addition, IP Battery is advancing semi-solid-state energy storage cells. In March 2026, it jointly released with the National New Energy Storage Innovation Center a 587Ah hybrid solid-liquid energy storage cell and is currently building a dedicated production line with a capacity of 6.5 GWh.

In terms of production capacity, Yinpai Battery has planned a total capacity of over 60 GWh, with 18 GWh of mass production lines already built and delivering stably. The company plans to increase capacity to 36 GWh by 2027. Yinpai Battery has initiated its financing and listing plan and is transitioning from an in-house supply unit to an independent, market-oriented operation.
