Caroline Ellison, former Alameda Research CEO and central figure in the FTX collapse, has moved to home confinement after 11 months in federal prison. She remains under federal supervision and is set for release by February 20, 2026. Ellison received a two-year sentence in September 2024 for misusing customer funds and falsifying balance sheets. She testified that Sam Bankman-Fried, her ex-boyfriend and FTX founder, led the fraud. Bankman-Fried is serving a 25-year term. The case has drawn attention to liquidity and crypto markets, with ongoing scrutiny under EU Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation.
