Getting a prescription should be the hard part. Instead, for millions of patients, the real ordeal begins after the doctor writes the script: insurance approvals, prior authorizations, financial assistance paperwork, pharmacy routing. Forus, a New York-based AI healthcare startup, just raised $150 million in a Series C round to keep automating that entire mess away.

The round values Forus at $3 billion. Four months ago, the company was worth roughly a third of that.

Who wrote the check

Bain Capital Ventures led the Series C, continuing a relationship that stretches back to Forus’s seed stage. The investor roster includes Thrive Capital, General Catalyst, Accel, Redpoint Ventures, BoxGroup, and Pear VC.

This isn’t the company’s first massive raise this year. Back in May 2026, Forus (then still going by its previous name, Tandem) pulled in over $160 million in a Series B round. Combined with the latest infusion, total funding now exceeds $300 million.

What Forus actually does

The platform deploys AI agents to handle the prescription-to-treatment workflow, automating insurance prior authorizations, copay assistance programs, and specialty pharmacy coordination at no cost to providers or patients. The company’s revenue model instead relies on partnerships with biopharmaceutical companies, nine of which rank among the world’s 15 largest.

The platform is live across all 50 US states and reaches patients in 85% of residential ZIP codes.

Why the valuation jumped so fast

Raising $160 million in May and another $150 million in September suggests Forus is racing to lock in market position. The company has signaled it plans to use this capital to expand into additional medical specialties.
