BlockBeats news, on April 18, according to WSJ, Lloyds Maritime data shows that since the U.S. Navy announced it would intercept vessels transporting Iranian oil on the high seas, at least five Iranian-linked tankers traveling from the Gulf of Oman to Malaysia have changed course.


The Suezmax tanker Kariz, flying the Iranian flag and carrying 1 million barrels of Iranian crude oil originally bound for Malaysia and Singapore, deviated from its course near Sri Lanka early Friday. Another sanctioned very large tanker, Andromeda, carrying nearly 2 million barrels of oil, also changed course in the Indian Ocean while en route to Southeast Asia.


On Friday, the empty crude oil tankers Amak and Elisabet also turned around in the Gulf of Oman while en route to the Strait of Hormuz and nearing U.S. naval vessels. Both vessels are subject to sanctions by the United States and the European Union.
