IT Home, October 10 news: According to a report by Bloomberg this week, citing data from the Confederation of Finnish Industries, the country has attracted over €67 billion in data center construction investments from multiple companies (IT Home note: approximately RMB 503.167 billion at current exchange rates).
Finland’s relatively low temperatures reduce cooling costs for data centers; the country has abundant renewable energy resources and a well-developed power grid, along with ample vacant large-scale industrial land—all of which facilitate data center construction.

Of this €67 billion investment, €22 billion is already operational, €14.7 billion is in feasibility studies, €22.3 billion is in the planning phase, and €27.9 billion is under investment decision.
On the 8th of this month, French AI infrastructure company Sesterce announced plans to invest over €10 billion in building a data center campus on the site of a former paper mill in Finland, with a long-term computing power target exceeding 1 GW. Applied Digital also plans to build a GW-scale facility in the country; data center operator atNorth has planned a 230 MW project; and Alibaba Cloud has computing power plans in Finland.
However, the surge in data center projects has brought challenges to Finland, including issues with electricity supply and pricing, and Google’s project has been paused due to environmental concerns.
