Bitcoin news highlights a new angle for future growth, as macro investor Jordi Visser links AI agent development to potential ecosystem growth. He argues traditional indicators are losing relevance, pointing to AI agents using blockchain for direct interaction. This could boost crypto adoption and use cases. Visser also notes rising interest in privacy projects like Zcash and NEAR, aligning with the AI trend.

Experienced macro investor Jordi Visser argued that the rapid development of artificial intelligence agents could create a new growth dynamic for Bitcoin and the cryptocurrency market in general. According to Visser, evaluating Bitcoin’s future performance solely through traditional macroeconomic indicators such as global liquidity, interest rates, or money supply is becoming increasingly insufficient.

Visser said that while it’s understandable that Bitcoin’s price has been largely correlated with liquidity conditions in the past, this relationship could change as the real use of cryptocurrency technology becomes more widespread. He considered the ability of Bitcoin and other crypto assets to remain strong during a period of rising interest rates a significant signal, suggesting that genuine technological innovations could grow increasingly independently of economic cycles.

At the heart of Visser’s thesis are artificial intelligence agents. The renowned investor argued that advanced AI agents will interact directly with each other in the future, requiring blockchain infrastructure. Visser stated, “Agents will interact with each other. Blockchain is necessary,” adding that the rise of AI agents is extremely positive for the cryptocurrency sector.

According to Visser, one of the significant consequences of this transformation will be the more active integration of assets, largely dormant in the current financial system, into the economic system through tokenization. Arguing that a mechanism different from traditional liquidity indicators is emerging, Visser believes that tokenization will allow assets to be used as collateral and that programmable financial transactions will become more widespread.

Visser predicts that AI agents will evolve from mere analytical software into economic actors making purchasing, payment, reservation, and financial decisions, and that digital wallets controlled by these agents could become critically important in the future. According to the analyst, automated competition could arise between company-owned AI agents and consumers’ personal agents regarding price, privacy, and transaction terms.

Visser noted that this structure could create new use cases, particularly for privacy-focused crypto projects and decentralized finance applications, and linked the increased interest in projects like Zcash and NEAR in September to the strengthening theme of AI agents and privacy. According to Visser, the ability of agents acting on behalf of businesses to conduct transactions without disclosing their identities and financial behavior to the other party will become increasingly valuable.

Visser also argued that while AI agents could increase economic productivity, they could make traditional employment and growth indicators less meaningful. He stated that his own company has fewer than 15 human employees, but the number of digital AI agents used could approach 100, adding that current economic metrics are struggling to keep pace with this transformation.

Regarding Bitcoin, Visser takes a very long-term approach. He states that Bitcoin is the asset he is most confident will appreciate in value over the next 30 years, and believes that the combination of artificial intelligence and blockchain technologies could significantly expand the real-world use cases for cryptocurrencies.
