As per Crypto Valley Journal, the European Union has announced regulations set to take effect in July 2027 that will ban the trading of privacy coins such as Monero and Zcash on regulated platforms and restrict the use of anonymous or self-custodied crypto wallets. The new rules, part of the AMLR and MiCA frameworks, require crypto service providers to verify customer identities for transactions over 1,000 euros and will establish the EU Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA) to oversee compliance. By mid-2027, providers must implement measures to block privacy coin trading through centralized interfaces, potentially reducing liquidity for these assets in EU markets.
