ChainCatcher report: Ethereum’s Glamsterdam hard fork has entered its final development testnet phase on Tuesday, locking in ten EIP proposals and positioned as the largest protocol upgrade since the Merge. Two core proposals are: EIP-7732 directly integrates proposer-builder separation (ePBS) into the consensus layer, replacing current reliance on off-chain relays like MEV-Boost; EIP-7928 introduces block-level access lists (BALs), enabling validators to process unrelated transactions in parallel. Together, these pave the way for a 200 million gas limit—roughly triple the current ~60 million—potentially increasing theoretical throughput to around 10,000 TPS. On the user level, EIP-2780 is expected to reduce the cost of standard ETH transfers by up to 71%. The mainnet activation date has not yet been set and requires validation first on the Holesky and Hoodi testnets; based on historical timelines, it is anticipated to go live between September and December 2026. The 200 million gas limit is a design target, not a hard fork-enforced value, and will be incrementally raised over time through validator gas voting signals.
Ethereum's Glamsterdam upgrade aims to increase the gas limit to 200M and reduce transfer fees by 71%.

Ethereum news: The Glamsterdam hard fork has entered the final testnet phase, finalizing ten EIPs and marking the largest blockchain upgrade since The Merge. Key changes include EIP-7732, which introduces proposer-builder separation at the consensus layer, and EIP-7928, which adds block-level access lists for faster processing. The gas limit is set to increase to 200 million, tripling current levels, while EIP-2780 could reduce ETH transfer fees by 71%. Mainnet activation is pending, with testing on the Holesky and Hoodi testnets expected to conclude between September and December 2026.
