Ethereum’s first real-time block, aimed at Countering the Financing of Terrorism, was produced on November 13, 2025, with 44 sub-blocks in 6,703 milliseconds. The ETHGas team designed the structure to split each block into 120–240 sub-blocks, with 152 milliseconds between them on average. This allows deterministic execution of operations without L2s. Over 4% of validators have joined the block space market. Risk-on assets may benefit as real-time execution could become standard by late 2026.
