Ethereum price traded near $2,700 on Oct. 4 as analysts revisited higher long-term targets. Crypto Patel outlined a conditional path toward $10,000 and eventually $15,000.
The outlook appeared alongside charts pointing to possible shifts across the broader altcoin market. Separately, Santiment recorded unusually high movement among previously dormant Ether on Sept. 30.
Analyst Sets $15K Ethereum Price Target
Crypto Patel recently shared an Ethereum roadmap that places ETH between $10,000 and $15,000 during the current altseason. The analyst presented the $15,000 level as the upper end of his target range and linked the outlook to historical market cycles.
Ethereum price would need to rise substantially from its current level near the $2,700 area to reach the upper end of the range.

Ethereum current price cycle compared with previous market cycles. The top altcoin marks earlier cycle highs and accumulation phases while pointing to a possible continuation of the current cycle toward 2027 and 2028.
Altcoin Dominance Shows a Possible Trend Change
One of the charts accompanying the altseason discussion tracks crypto market capitalization excluding the top 10 assets. The chart shows several periods in which altcoin market capitalization expanded after extended consolidation.

Another chart focuses on altcoin dominance and marks a 4.5-year decline. The chart shows a downward trend line from a previous high, followed by a recent move higher after a period of lower readings.

The latest move has brought altcoin dominance back toward the descending trend line. The chart also marks a previous liquidation event before the recent recovery.
A sustained move above the trend line would represent a change from the pattern shown on the chart. However, the chart alone does not establish whether the move will continue or whether it will lead to a broad altcoin rally.
Altcoin Market Cap Repeats Golden-Cross Setup
The altcoin market capitalization chart also marks golden crosses around previous market cycle turning points. The chart identifies one around 2016, another around 2020, and a third around 2025.
Following the earlier golden crosses, the chart shows periods of rising altcoin market capitalization. The latest setup places the current market around the third marked golden cross, with the chart projecting a possible move toward the $2.8 trillion area.

A golden cross occurs when a shorter-term moving average moves above a longer-term moving average. Traders often use the pattern to track changes in market momentum, although it does not guarantee a future price increase. The chart therefore provides a historical comparison for the current altcoin market.
Dormant Ethereum Moves Without Major Exchange Inflow
Ethereum price has also recorded unusual on-chain activity. Santiment data showed the Age Consumed metric reaching about 580 million token-days on September 30. The reading was around nine times the average weekday level recorded during September and marked the highest level since June 2.
The metric tracks the movement of previously dormant coins. The September 30 reading therefore showed that older ETH moved between wallets.
Exchange balances did not rise by a similar amount. Around 18,000 ETH entered exchanges on September 30, followed by a decline of about 21,000 ETH the next day. Exchange balances stood at roughly 5.9 million ETH.
