ChainThink reports that on November 6, according to an announcement from the Ethereum Foundation, security firm ChainSecurity discovered that certain invariants relied upon by some projects may become invalid after the Glamsterdam upgrade. The related adjustments involve modifications to gas costs for certain operations and state gas billing methods under EIP-8037 and EIP-8038.
The Ethereum Core Developers Meeting (ACD) therefore decided to postpone the hard fork process and not initiate the fork on the HooDai testnet until the related issues are resolved.
The Ethereum Foundation stated that it is collaborating with multiple audit firms to conduct reviews and internal audits, but cannot cover all on-chain and off-chain code for every project.
The foundation urges contract developers and auditors to check whether projects rely on any of the eight related invariants, and has created a dedicated GitHub repository providing guidelines, examples, and self-check prompts.
