ChainThink reports that on June 23, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin posted that the Ethereum Foundation (EF) will reduce its budget by approximately 40% this year as part of its fiscal transformation plan.
In accordance with the previously announced fund management policy, EF is transitioning from a "spending organization" to a "long-term endowment" model, with the goal of gradually reducing the annual spending rate from approximately 15% to around 5% after 2030.
In this round of restructuring, EF has reduced approximately 54 employees, representing about 20% of the total team. Vitalik noted that some of those who left may still contribute to the Ethereum ecosystem externally in the future.
EF will transition to a more lightweight protocol governance and development approach, advancing a long-term roadmap covering consensus mechanisms, privacy technologies, account models, and state structures, while reducing investment in large-scale cross-domain projects and placing greater emphasis on protocol security and high-value improvements.
