Ethereum news: Ethereum Foundation researcher Tau Lepton is testing EIP-8025 execution proofs on the Sepolia testnet. Using OpenVM and 16 RTX 5090 GPUs, proof generation takes 6 to 7 seconds per block. Over 36,000 proofs have been generated so far. Execution proofs enable validators to verify zero-knowledge proofs instead of re-executing transactions. Tau Lepton stated the feature is experimental and not intended for fork choice or voting. Further testing with different provers and clients is planned in the coming days. Ethereum ecosystem news continues to highlight active research and development efforts.

ME News reports that on October 26 (UTC+8), Tau Lepton, a research engineer at the Ethereum Foundation, tweeted that he is running an EIP-8025 execution proof prover on the Sepolia testnet. Using OpenVM, he allocated eight RTX 5090 GPUs each to the ethrex and reth client implementations. The proof generation time for a single block is approximately 6 to 7 seconds—shorter than Ethereum’s 12-second block interval—allowing the prover to complete proofs before the next block is produced. Over 36,000 proofs have already been generated, and over the coming days to weeks, different provers and client implementations will be tested in rotation. Execution proofs enable validators to confirm blocks by verifying zero-knowledge proofs rather than re-executing transactions. Tau Lepton cautioned that this feature remains experimental; validators must not rely on execution proofs for fork choice or proof voting and must continue running execution clients.
