ChainThink reports that on October 27, ENSv2 officially launched on the Ethereum mainnet.
The new version introduces a hierarchical registry and a more granular permission model, enabling individual domains to function as independent on-chain registries, with support for custom subdomain issuance rules, partitioned authorization management, updated domain resolution methods, and shared record linking.
The new ENS App is designed for general users, while ENS Explorer is tailored for developers. ENS states that the ecosystem currently supports over 36 million domains across more than 600 applications.
Existing .eth domains will continue to function normally without the need for re-registration; users can voluntarily upgrade via the ENS App starting today.
After upgrading all eligible domains, users can claim a commemorative ENSv2 NFT designed by artist Polyhop—one per wallet, subject to Ethereum network gas fees.
Apps such as 1inch, MetaMask, Safe, Uniswap, PayPal, Venmo, and OpenSea have already been adapted for ENSv2.
