Odaily Planet Daily report: Nick Johnson, founder of the Ethereum Name Service (ENS), has submitted an executable proposal recommending that the decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) approve the activation of ENSv2 on the Ethereum mainnet. Upon approval, the original ENS registrar will suspend new domain registrations, while existing domain holders will still be able to renew their domains.
ENSv2 will introduce a more flexible domain management and permission architecture. After domain record synchronization is complete, new .eth registrations will be migrated to the upgraded system; during the transition, new registrations on both systems may be paused for several hours. Existing holders do not need to migrate and can continue using their domains normally. ENS Labs plans to transfer remaining management permissions of the upgrade contract to the DAO.
This proposal is still in draft form and must proceed through the on-chain DAO voting process. According to governance rules, executable proposals must receive at least 1 million ENS votes during a 7-day voting period and secure majority support; after approval, a minimum two-day delay period is required. The voting dates have not yet been announced. (Cointelegraph)
