The ENS DAO has proposed activating ENSv2 via Tally/Blockful, with nick.eth’s plan receiving 619,000 votes in favor. The ETH price remains stable as the proposal awaits the 1 million quorum. If approved, new .eth registrations on ENSv1 will be frozen, and control will transfer to ETHRenewerV1. ENS Labs will then prepare for the v2 migration. Among altcoins to watch, ENS’s upgrade could influence broader market sentiment. The transition period will temporarily suspend all new name registrations.

The ENS DAO governance platform Tally/Blockful proposal page shows that the proposal to "Activate ENSv2," submitted by nick.eth, is currently under voting and will close on October 25 at 13:32. Currently, there are approximately 619,000 votes in favor (100%), 25 votes against, and 0 abstentions, with quorum progress at 619.42K / 1M.
After the proposal is approved and executed, the DAO will freeze new .eth registrations on ENSv1 via a single atomic transaction consisting of 15 calls, and transfer ownership of the v1 BaseRegistrar to the ETHRenewerV1 contract, which can only renew registrations. Simultaneously, the proposal will point the .eth resolver to ENSV2Resolver and direct the Universal Resolver proxy to an intermediate proxy managed by the Security Committee.
Thereafter, ENS Labs will complete the final pre-migration sync and open registration for the v2 ETHRegistrar. Labs will also switch to v2 resolution and transfer all v2 administrative privileges it holds to the DAO timelock. The interval between proposal execution and v2 launch is expected to be several hours, during which no new names can be registered on either v1 or v2, but all other name operations will continue as usual, and renewals will remain possible.
