A European Central Bank survey shows that less than 1% of eurozone merchants accept crypto payments, with 0.2% of online businesses using crypto assets. The adoption of stablecoins and crypto at physical point-of-sale terminals remained below 1% in 2024 and 2026. Mobile payments increased from 36% to 68%, while cash acceptance rose to 92%. The low adoption rate raises questions about liquidity and the integration of crypto markets. CFT regulations may also contribute to merchant hesitation. The survey included 8,205 businesses across 21 eurozone countries.
