Dogecoin Labs, a new entity formed through a partnership announcement with the Dogecoin Foundation, unites the teams behind MyDoge, DogeOS, and Such App. MyDoge, with over 500,000 users, will integrate with DogeOS applications. Such App offers beta invoicing and QR payments. DogeOS, still in development, launched a public test network on Sept. 30 and plans a network upgrade to connect securely with Dogecoin’s mainnet. Dogecoin Labs will focus on product development and commercial expansion, while the Dogecoin Foundation supports open-source and community initiatives.

The teams developing the MyDoge wallet, DogeOS application network and Such App merchant payment tools are combining into Dogecoin Labs. The initiative aims to expand opportunities for DOGE holders to use and spend DOGE. An announcement says Dogecoin Labs was formed in partnership with the Dogecoin Foundation and will own and operate the three products. Jordan Jefferson, who founded MyDoge and DogeOS, will become CEO.

The plan would connect developers building applications on DogeOS with holders discovering those applications through MyDoge and merchants accepting payments through Such App. Such App already offers invoicing and in-person QR payments in beta. However, Such App's integration with DogeOS is still being planned.

MyDoge said the wallet has attracted more than 500,000 users without paying to acquire users. MyDoge's recently launched V3 update links the wallet with applications under development on DogeOS. The announcement gives no count of active wallet users or users who have tested those applications.

The Dogecoin Foundation and the foundation's commercial arm, House of Doge, are contributing intellectual property and development teams. The foundation will maintain support for open-source development, advocacy and community activities. Dogecoin Labs will focus on products and commercial opportunities.

DogeOS remains unfinished but launched a public test network on Sept. 30. The test network lets developers use test DOGE to create Ethereum-style lending services, exchanges and games. Those applications operate on a separate system because Dogecoin itself processes coin transfers. Three weeks after the test network launched, the public DogeOS user guide continued to list featured applications as "coming soon."

DogeOS plans a security connection that would allow Dogecoin's network to verify mathematical proofs showing that DogeOS applications executed correctly. The proposed rule change needed for that connection remains in draft form. Users will need to depend on operators and hardware selected by DogeOS to verify application execution until the connection is implemented.

DOGE rose 3.9% over the past 24 hours and recently traded at about 8.2 cents.
