CoinDesk reports:

Fremont, California, October 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Delta Electronics, a leader in power management and intelligent green solutions, is highlighting at the OCP Global Summit 2026 how its collaboration with NVIDIA is accelerating the development of NVIDIA’s 800 VDC power delivery and cooling solutions for increasingly dense AI factories.

The NVIDIA 800 VDC MGX-compatible power rack helps existing data centers enhance AI computing performance and power density while providing an upgrade path for future AI infrastructure. In conjunction with the NVIDIA AI Factory MGX Ecosystem Ceremony on October 14, Delta Electronics showcased next-generation, high-efficiency solutions for AI factories based on the 800 VDC architecture, including an 800 VDC 660 kW row-based power rack system with 480 kW backup power capacity, compatible with NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 and other NVIDIA MGX racks, as well as a new 800 VDC liquid-to-liquid cooling distribution unit (CDU) with a cooling capacity of up to 2.5 MW.

NVIDIA MGX is a modular reference architecture for accelerated computing, designed to help system manufacturers faster design future-proof systems, reduce costs, shorten time-to-market, and improve return on investment.

Ted Shyy, Executive Vice President of the Delta Electronics Power Electronics Business Group, said at the NVIDIA AI Factory MGX Ecosystem Ceremony: “Scaling AI requires power and thermal infrastructure that evolves in tandem with computing platforms. Our collaboration with NVIDIA helps bridge Delta’s expertise in power and thermal management with the demands of next-generation AI infrastructure. At the OCP Conference, we shared how 800 VDC power delivery and integrated cooling enable customers to improve efficiency and support increasingly dense AI systems.”

Advance efficient power delivery from facility to rack, optimized for the NVIDIA MGX platform.

Delta Electronics has demonstrated its solid-state transformer (SST), which directly converts medium-voltage AC to 800 VDC without intermediate conversion steps. Subsequently, Delta’s high-voltage DC power distribution board (HVDC PDB) can convert 800 VDC or ±400 VDC to 54 VDC and 12 VDC to power AI servers. With a power density of 1,000 W/in³, this PDB achieves conversion efficiencies of up to 98% and features built-in hot-swap capability to support reliable operation. Delta states that combining these technologies simplifies power conversion from the grid to the chip while reducing energy losses to meet the power demands of next-generation AI.

In terms of high-capacity power delivery, Delta showcased its latest 800 VDC in-rack power solution designed for NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 and other MGX racks. Each of the six 7RU power modules consists of a 3RU 110 kW power shelf and a 4RU 80 kW battery backup unit (BBU), delivering a total output power of 660 kW and backup capacity of 480 kW. A subsequent 90 kW DC/DC power shelf then converts 800 VDC to 50 V, achieving a maximum conversion efficiency of up to 98.5%.

Integrate power and cooling for the next-generation AI infrastructure

Delta also showcased its 5,000A liquid-cooled busbar designed for NVIDIA’s third-generation MGX racks, combining high-current power distribution with liquid cooling to manage heat in the power system. Its NVIDIA MGX racks and manifolds enable effective thermal management for high-density Vera Rubin platforms, while its DC busway delivers efficient power distribution for upcoming 800 VDC architectures. Delta states that its power architecture supports Intelligent Power Smoothing (IPS) with efficiency up to 98%, and offers multiple configurations, including a compact 800 kW in-row power solution without a BBU and a 660 kW in-row power system integrated with a BBU, to meet diverse deployment requirements.

Delta’s thermal management portfolio enables cooling for AI data centers based on 800 VDC, from row-level to chip-level. Key products include the new 800 VDC 2.5 MW liquid-to-liquid cooling distribution unit (L2L CDU) and a newly designed cold plate for the NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72.

This L2L CDU is equipped with three hot-swappable pumps to achieve zero-downtime goals—each pump integrates a converter and control module. Together, the three pumps (3+0) deliver a maximum flow rate of 3,850 liters per minute and maintain 60 psi at the operating point. The microchannel cold plate combines a microchannel structure with a multi-impingement flow design to enhance heat transfer and reduce flow resistance. Passive flow control and advanced metal bonding processes enable higher thermal capacity and reliability.

Delta stated that these cooling solutions collectively address the evolving thermal management requirements of next-generation AI infrastructure.

Share experiences with the next-generation AI-powered cooling and thermal architecture

Delta also delivered a presentation on October 12 titled “Delta 800 VDC Power and Cooling Solutions for Data Centers.” This executive session, featuring Ralf Pieper, Director of R&D at Delta’s Customized Design Solutions division, and Mike Tu, Chief Electrical Engineer at NVIDIA, covered Delta’s 800 VDC power architecture, rack-level power delivery, and liquid cooling solutions, with a focus on efficient, reliable, and scalable AI infrastructure.
