DefiLlama and Forgd launched Universal Token Ratings (UTR), a new token launch news initiative modeled after traditional credit agencies. The system rates 128 tokens from AAA to CCC using real-time data. UTR covers DeFi and real-world assets (RWA) news, with UNI as the sole AAA-rated token. Forgd CEO Shane Molidor said ratings must be continuously earned, especially for new tokens. DefiLlama’s Ryan Celaj called the system a standardized tool for users.

Odaily Planet Daily report: On August 26, DeFiLlama and Web3 investment bank Forgd announced the launch of Universal Token Ratings (UTR), a rating system for digital assets modeled after frameworks by Moody’s and Fitch. The system currently covers 128 assets, with ratings ranging from AAA to CCC, and is regularly updated based on real-time market data.

The UTR dashboard shows that the DeFi asset Uniswap (UNI) has received the sole AAA rating; Meteora (MET), Curve DAO (CRV), Raydium (RAY), Olexchange (O), Jito (JTO), ether.fi (ETHFI), Dogecoin (DOGE), Zama (ZAMA), and Pyth Network (PYTH) have received AA ratings.

Ryan Celaj, Research Lead at DefiLlama, said that calculating ratings based on real-time market data helps users identify projects in a standardized way. Shane Molidor, Founder and CEO of Forgd, said that UTR ratings require ongoing maintenance, and newly issued tokens at a Token Generation Event (TGE) will initially receive a provisional rating.
