According to Reuters, China’s AI startup DeepSeek officially launched its latest API model, V4-Flash, on July 31. According to benchmark tests by AI performance analysis firm Artificial Analysis, its operational cost is just 1/105 that of Anthropic’s Claude 3.5 Sonnet. In terms of pricing, V4-Flash charges $0.14 per million input tokens and $0.28 per million output tokens, with an average test cost of approximately 3 cents—significantly lower than ERNIE Bot K3 (86 cents), OpenAI GPT-5.6 Sol ($1.86), and Claude 3.5 Sonnet ($3.15). In performance, V4-Flash scored 50 on the Composite Intelligence Index, matching Google’s Gemini 3.6 Flash, but still more than 9 points below leading models such as Claude Opus 5 and GPT-5.6. Notably, a low list price does not equate to low actual cost—if the model requires more inference and output tokens to generate responses, the real expenses could rise significantly.
DeepSeek V4-Flash reduces costs to 1/105 of Claude, priced at $0.14 per input token.
