ChainCatcher report: DeepSeek has updated its peak and off-peak pricing rules for its API. On weekends adjusted for workdays and Chinese public holidays, the entire day is charged at off-peak rates. Although September 20 was a workday made up for National Day, the API still applied off-peak pricing. DeepSeek implemented peak-off-peak pricing starting August 17, with off-peak rates set at half the peak rates. Less than a week later, all Saturdays and Sundays were fully transitioned to off-peak pricing. This update further clarifies billing for adjusted workdays and public holidays. For example, with deepseek-flash, the cost for 1 million tokens of cache-miss input is 1 yuan during off-peak hours and 2 yuan during peak hours; output costs are 4 yuan and 8 yuan, respectively. The other make-up workday for National Day, October 10, falls on a Saturday and will also be charged at off-peak rates.

DeepSeek has updated its API peak-valley pricing rules to align with Chinese public holidays and adjusted workdays, treating all such days as off-peak for billing purposes. For example, the DeepSeek-Flash model charges 1 RMB per million token cache misses for input and 4 RMB for output during off-peak hours, with peak rates at double these amounts. The company introduced this pricing model on August 17, 2026, and later reclassified weekends as off-peak. This is the latest in a series of cryptocurrency-related updates from the company.
