If implemented as planned, this would become one of the largest known clusters of Huawei AI chips to date. DeepSeek also intends to purchase more, but Huawei’s current production capacity cannot keep up, and full delivery may take over a year. These 950DT chips will be used to run DeepSeek models, but DeepSeek has no current plans to use them for training. To date, DeepSeek has primarily relied on NVIDIA GPUs for core training. The 160,000 chips represent only a portion of the overall project.
