The DeepSeek API billing rules will change on August 23, 2026, at 00:00 UTC+8. Under the new cryptocurrency rules, weekend hours will be priced at off-peak rates only. Previously, peak hours were charged at twice the off-peak rate, with some models reaching 27 RMB per million tokens. Charges prior to the update will continue to follow the old rules. New token listings and billing adjustments are part of ongoing API cost management.

According to ME News, on August 22 (UTC+8), The Shanghai Stock Exchange Science and Technology Daily learned that the DeepSeek API Open Platform will optimize its peak-off-peak billing rules starting at 00:00 on Sunday, August 23, 2026. After the adjustment, weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) will no longer distinguish between peak and off-peak hours; instead, all usage will be billed at the off-peak rate. Charges incurred before the new rules take effect will continue to be settled under the original pricing structure. Previously, DeepSeek announced an API price adjustment implementing peak-off-peak pricing, with peak rates set at twice the off-peak rate—resulting in a maximum price of 27 yuan per million tokens output for deepseek-v4-pro during peak hours. Peak hours are defined as 9:00–12:00 and 14:00–18:00 Beijing Time (all other times are off-peak). (Source: ODAILY)
