Odaily Planet Daily reports that the crypto project Cysic has suspended its cross-chain bridge after an attacker exploited a processing flaw to mint 10 million CYS tokens unauthorizedly on BNB Smart Chain on Saturday. Preliminary investigations suggest the attacker may have gained unauthorized access to the database supporting the bridge.
The token mint occurred at 12:31:38 UTC, and Cysic added the receiving address to the token contract blacklist at 13:47:52 UTC. The address currently holds approximately 2.8 million CYS, and related transfers have been restricted.
Cysic stated that the incident involved only cross-chain bridge message processing and token minting, and did not affect the mainnet or other operational systems, nor did it result in the theft or unauthorized transfer of existing CYS or other assets from users' wallets. Token transfers, exchanges, and actual losses are still under review; the company has engaged a security firm and plans to release a follow-up report. (Cointelegraph)
