Based on TechFlow, on December 7, CyrusOne confirmed that a human error at its Aurora, Illinois data center caused a market outage on CME Group-operated platforms for over 10 hours over the weekend. On-site staff and contractors failed to drain cooling towers in accordance with standard procedures before cold weather arrived, leading to an overloaded cooling system and rising temperatures. CyrusOne is jointly owned by KKR & Co. and Global Infrastructure Partners, and the incident has raised concerns about the reliability of financial market infrastructure. Previously, on November 28, CME Group suspended commodity futures trading.
