BlockBeats news: On August 29, CXMT officially announced the mass production of its independently developed next-generation low-power memory, LPDDR6, which will be first deployed in the Xiaomi 18 Fold flagship foldable phone. This marks the first commercial deployment of LPDDR6 worldwide, signifying that a Chinese memory company has broken the long-standing dominance of overseas manufacturers in high-end memory standards for the first time.
According to ChangXin's semi-annual report, ChangXin's LPDDR6 chip delivers comprehensive performance improvements over the previous-generation LPDDR5X: through architectural innovation and optimized data transmission technologies, it fully unlocks data transmission potential, achieving a peak speed of 12,800 Mbps and a maximum chip capacity of 16 GB.
LPDDR6 is the latest generation of LPDDR products internationally. The international standards organization JEDEC first released the LPDDR6 standard in July 2025, and in March of this year, industry reports confirmed that CXMT had submitted its LPDDR6 products for testing. CXMT successfully achieved the world’s first commercial launch of LPDDR6, from aligning with the standard and sample submission to validation and mass production.
Under the trend of exploding AI demand, LPDDR6 is seen as a key pillar for unlocking edge AI computing power, with applications spanning smartphones, PCs, and extending to intelligent cockpits and AI data centers, laying a critical foundation for domestic smartphone manufacturers and other terminal vendors to seize AI opportunities.
