According to 1M AI News, the AI programming tool Cursor has released its third-generation proprietary programming model, Composer 2. The standard version is priced at $0.50/$2.50 (per million tokens for input/output), representing an approximately 86% price reduction from the previous version, Composer 1.5. A faster version with equivalent intelligence is also available at $1.50/$7.50 and has been set as the default option.
Cursor's benchmark results show that Composer 2 scores 61.7% on the programming agent benchmark Terminal-Bench 2.0, surpassing Opus 4.4's 58.0% but trailing GPT-5.4's 75.1%. On the software engineering benchmark SWE-bench Multilingual, it scores 73.7% (up from 65.9% in the previous generation), and on Cursor's proprietary CursorBench, it scores 61.3% (up from 44.2% in the previous generation). Cursor attributes these performance improvements to the first-time continued pretraining of the base model, followed by reinforcement learning to train the model to complete long-horizon programming tasks requiring hundreds of steps.
This model is only available within Cursor and is not offered as a standalone API. Anysphere, Cursor's parent company, is currently valued at $29.3 billion.
