CRV faces a bearish trend despite a 14% market rally in 24 hours. Spot flows and on-chain activity lifted the token, with $1.06 million in spot inflows and volume hitting $260.1 million. Yet derivatives traders remain cautious, as the Open Interest-Weighted Funding Rate fell to -0.0078%. The market rally struggles against concentrated user behavior and bearish sentiment in futures markets.

Curve DAO [CRV] rallied 14% in 24 hours, with Spot flows supporting further upside over the coming sessions.

Both on-chain and exchange activity showed stronger capital inflows, supporting a buy-side outlook. However, two concerns remained.

Derivatives traders leaned bearish, while protocol activity remained concentrated among relatively few users.

Why are CRV traders turning bearish?

CRV’s perpetual market recorded a significant shift toward sell-side positioning. At press time, the Open Interest-Weighted Funding Rate had dropped sharply to -0.0078%.

The negative reading showed that bearish traders paid to maintain their positions, reflecting stronger demand for short exposure.

Meanwhile, CRV’s Open Interest stood at $108 million, showing substantial derivatives participation during the rally.

However, Spot flows told a different story.

Traders purchased approximately $1.06 million worth of CRV during the past day, aligning with the prevailing buying trend. That divide left Spot buyers pushing the rally while derivatives traders positioned against it.

Is on-chain activity supporting CRV?

On-chain activity strengthened the bullish outlook as Spot Volume surged. At press time, Spot Volume had increased from $25.4 million on 15th August to $260.1 million.

The sharp increase showed growing activity across CRV’s decentralized exchange market.

On top of that, Transactions climbed from slightly above 11,000 to more than 24,400 during the same period. This marked the highest transaction level recorded over the past 30 days.

CRV gained more than 45% during that period, according to CoinGlass token performance data. Yet the transaction surge concealed a weaker layer beneath the rally.

Are too few users driving CRV?

Only a small group of users participated in the latest increase in Transactions. Artemis recorded approximately 417 Daily Active Users, compared with 337 on 15th August.

Although participation increased, the user base remained relatively small.

Daily Active Users peaked near 482 on 4th August, meaning participation stayed below 500 throughout the month. This concentration could make activity more sensitive to changes among a small group of users.

Overall, CRV maintained strong momentum, but bearish derivatives positioning and concentrated usage could test the rally’s durability.

Final Summary

  • CRV gained 14% as Spot purchases supported continued buying pressure.
  • CRV’s Open Interest-Weighted Funding Rate fell to -0.0078%, reflecting bearish derivatives positioning.
