PANews, September 5: The cross-chain protocol Router Protocol has announced, in a blog post, that after more than four years of development, it has decided to gradually shut down operations and will fully cease operations by September 30, 2026. The team cited sustained scarcity of Web3 liquidity over the past two years, a market shift toward AI, declining interest in the cross-chain interoperability sector, and insufficient bridge-related revenue to cover operational costs. Despite efforts over the past year to pursue commercialization, licensing, and acquisition pathways, no sustainable solution was achieved. Router Protocol will permanently destroy the 303,333,198 ROUTE tokens remaining in its treasury and will coordinate with centralized exchanges to delist ROUTE. Holders must follow their respective exchange’s procedures to redeem their tokens before the deadline.
