ChainThink reports that on August 3, Coldcard, a manufacturer of Bitcoin hardware wallets, announced on X that it has destroyed all remaining inventory of COLDCARD devices produced with vulnerable firmware and has suspended shipments.
The official statement says that some users' funds were affected over the past three days. Since last Friday, the team has been actively contacting customers to assist with transferring still-secure funds and providing recovery guidance.
Coldcard states that the released patch firmware prevents newly generated mnemonics from being affected, but older mnemonics generated on vulnerable firmware remain at risk; users should create a new wallet and migrate their funds.
The official statement indicates that Satscard, Opendime, and Tapsigner are unaffected; users affected are advised to retain their devices to assist with subsequent recovery efforts.
