According to ChainCatcher, Yang Haipo, founder of CoinEx, stated that CoinEx officially launched on December 22, 2017, and will formally shut down on December 22, 2026, exactly nine years later. He noted that nine years is a long time in the cryptocurrency industry; during this period, CoinEx has gone through multiple bull and bear cycles with its users, witnessed the rise and fall of numerous projects, and seen many peers exit the market in various ways. Yang Haipo said that after reflection, he accepted the reality that CoinEx failed to become a leading exchange in the industry, and the security and compliance risks of operating a cryptocurrency exchange have become increasingly difficult to manage. While revenue can decline, responsibility does not diminish—assuming unlimited risk with limited revenue is no longer a rational choice. He emphasized that CoinEx has survived nine years in a highly volatile and demanding industry, enduring countless storms, and is now leaving intact and with dignity. Regarding CET, CoinEx will repurchase it at its original listing price of 0.005 USDT per token, with no upper limit on the quantity. Yang Haipo said he seriously considered selling CoinEx but ultimately decided against it, because users entrusted their assets to CoinEx based on trust in the platform and its founder; he believes handing the platform and this trust over to a new owner is not the right way to conclude this journey—"a clean ending is the right ending." CoinEx will ensure users can fully withdraw their assets, provide employees with a dignified farewell, and offer CET holders a clear and responsible resolution plan.

He cited stagnant growth and increasing compliance risks as primary reasons. CoinEx will repurchase CET tokens at 0.005 USDT each, with no upper limit.
