According to Cointelegraph, Rob Witoff, head of the Coinbase platform, revealed that 95% to 100% of the company’s code is now assisted by AI or large language models (LLMs), a significant increase from the 40% reported in February this year. Currently, each engineer at the company runs an average of 5 to 10 AI agents simultaneously, with the total workload of AI agents equivalent to approximately 1,200 employees—a figure projected to reach the equivalent of 100,000 employees by 2030. The large-scale adoption of AI enabled Coinbase to lay off 700 employees (about 14%) in May this year and restructure into a leaner, senior-level team capable of completing work previously requiring more than 10 people with just 2 to 3 individuals.
