Forge is built on the open-source agent framework OpenSWE and integrates capabilities such as agent orchestration, cloud sandboxing, and seamless connections with Slack, Linear, and GitHub, along with automated pull request creation, drawing on internal system insights from companies like Stripe and Ramp. Its key component, Mux, is currently used by approximately 600 engineers at Coinbase, enabling each engineer to concurrently orchestrate multiple AI coding agents to simultaneously develop APIs, write integration tests, fix bugs, and refactor modules.
