Based on HashNews, Coinbase has launched a new tool called Payments MCP, allowing AI agents like Claude, Gemini, and ChatGPT to access on-chain financial tools without API keys. The tool, powered by the x402 protocol, enables AI to perform payments, data retrieval, and tipping. While some experts believe AI can enhance wallet security by detecting front-running and fraud, others warn of risks like prompt injection and compromised transaction credentials. Merkle Science's Aaron Ratcliff emphasized the need for user understanding and secure transaction credentials. Glider's Brian Huang noted that AI wallet use is still in early stages, with basic functions like sending and swapping as starting points.
