Coinbase announced that its international exchange will integrate with Deribit, with institutional accounts migrating by September 9, 2026. This move aligns with the consolidation of global derivatives activity under Deribit. Institutional clients must close their positions by August 28 to avoid automatic migration. On migration day, the system will be offline for 30 minutes, during which positions will be transferred to Deribit sub-accounts. Altcoins to watch may experience increased activity as Deribit’s full options suite and updated API become available after migration.

ChainCatcher report: According to Coinbase’s announcement, Coinbase International Exchange will be integrated into Deribit as part of an infrastructure upgrade. Institutional clients’ accounts, positions, and balances will be migrated by September 9, 2026, after which Deribit will serve as the unified trading platform for Coinbase’s global derivatives business. The announcement states that August 28 is the final day to exit the migration by closing positions; clients who do not close their accounts prior to this date will be deemed to have accepted the migration. A planned downtime of approximately 30 minutes is expected on migration day, during which positions will be settled at the mark price and transferred to new Deribit sub-accounts. After migration, institutional clients will gain access to Deribit’s full options suite, and mechanisms such as perpetual contract settlement, funding rates, and API services will be updated accordingly.
