CoinMarketCap reports:

TEANECK, N.J., October 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Cognizant (Nasdaq: CTSH) today announced the launch of Cognizant AI Nexus, a modular, multi-model operational layer designed to help businesses accelerate the conversion of AI investments into validated business value by measuring AI spending, governing AI quality, and tracking outcomes across teams.

As frontier model capabilities converge and prices continue to compress, the choice of which AI model a company selects is becoming less important for achieving market differentiation. A more relevant question has emerged: How quickly can companies convert their AI investments into measurable, defensible value? Cognizant notes that this “speed-to-value” gap reflects a larger issue—and a greater opportunity—at the operational level. The company’s research found that the total annual value unrealized by AI among Global 2000 companies could reach as high as $4.7 trillion.

Companies are moving beyond AI pilot stages, but many are still waiting for returns. The research also found that two-thirds of leaders at Global 2000 companies have not yet demonstrated that AI has delivered measurable improvements in business productivity, and one-quarter have paused or abandoned deployments. AI has also made technology spending harder to see and predict. A new survey by Cognizant of 250 FinOps leaders found that 72% of organizations exceeded their AI budgets over the past 12 months, with 16% exceeding them by more than 25%.

“Many companies have made AI commitments,” said Ravi Kumar S, CEO of Cognizant. “Now, boards and finance leaders need evidence: what returns are these expenditures generating, who is accountable, and how can every dollar be made to go further? Cognizant AI Nexus provides them with a governed, unified platform to answer these questions and continuously improve those answers.”

Cognizant AI Nexus integrates five capabilities that enterprises can adopt individually or in combination. Two of these—Engage and Orchestrate—transform where work happens; the other three—Reveal, Coach, and Route—govern how AI performs within that work. Below are the expected functionalities and potential benefits of these capabilities:

Location where the work takes place

  • Cognizant AI Nexus Engage provides engineers, analysts, and business leaders with a governed workspace built on enterprise-specific knowledge. A secure sandbox transforms conversations into analysis, code, and decisions, while persistent AI experts and agents—with their own context and memory—embed proven workflows.
  • Cognizant AI Nexus Orchestrates business processes as agent-based workflows, designed by Frontier Certified Engineers and operated by Frontier Business Operators. Cognizant launched both roles in June 2026 and plans to hold them accountable for outcomes throughout the entire lifecycle of each workflow.

How is AI governed?

  • Cognizant AI Nexus Reveal maps every token, tool, and dollar between AI vendors to the underlying people, projects, and outcomes, helping managers manage budget spend and demonstrate impact.
  • Cognizant AI Nexus Coach evaluates the context, methods, and outcomes of AI workflows as they occur, transforming better practices into standards to enhance quality across the enterprise.
  • Cognizant AI Nexus Route matches each request with the most suitable model based on the optimal balance of quality, cost, and control, covering cutting-edge models, open-source weighted models, small language models, and self-hosted models. Sensitive workloads remain on-premises, policies apply to every route, and traffic is designed to switch to healthy models if a vendor slows down or fails.

Cognizant states that AI Nexus is designed to help businesses build compounding value around their most effective processes. It distills proven practices into reusable assets that teams can share and AI experts can apply, with each workflow run accumulating knowledge for the next. Because expenditures are measured and quality is monitored at the same level, businesses can track improvements in unit cost, quality, and speed over time.

Cognizant’s survey of FinOps leaders also found that 97% of organizations have experienced AI agent conversations costing more or being more active than expected, with 36% reporting significant impact. Cognizant AI Nexus is designed to embed trust and control directly into the operational layer.

Each AI expert has its own identity, permissions, and memory, determined by the enterprise regarding what it can access. Each workflow includes a complete audit trail, and critical decisions, compliance checks, and customer-facing operations still require human approval. Since Cognizant AI Nexus is designed to run within the enterprise’s own environment, the enterprise retains control over the data, processes, and institutional knowledge its AI relies on.

Cognizant’s client work demonstrates why this context matters. The company states that in agent-based AI projects, the primary barrier to deployment in production is insufficient context preparation, not limitations in model capability. As its own “Client Zero,” Cognizant first deploys Cognizant AI Nexus at scale within its own operations before rolling it out to clients.
