Odaily Planet Daily reports that Cloudflare has launched an authentication tool and digital wallet service for AI agents, aiming to advance "agentic commerce" by enabling AI assistants to conduct online shopping and transactions on behalf of users.
Cloudflare's cloudflare.id will provide verifiable, permanent web identities for users' AI agents, enabling merchants to confirm whether an AI agent is acting on behalf of a real user. The company is also launching a companion wallet service to store payment funds that AI agents can access.
This wallet is funded via bank transfer, and the funds are converted into a USD-pegged stablecoin; users can authorize an AI agent to use the wallet for shopping payments.
To prevent AI agents from overspending, Cloudflare Wallet offers security controls such as spending limits and merchant whitelisting, allowing users to restrict the agent’s purchasing scope and amount.
Cloudflare believes that traditional HTML web pages are primarily designed for human users, while the internet in the AI era may adopt more machine-friendly information structures, enabling agents to acquire information and complete transactions more efficiently. (Fortune)
