Circle has rolled out a protocol update to its Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP), now supporting native EURC cross-chain transfers. This on-chain update marks the expansion of EURC, the euro-backed stablecoin, with initial support on Ethereum and Base. Like USDC, EURC uses a burn-mint model. Developers can now use a single interface for both tokens, reducing integration time and enhancing liquidity. Issued by Circle’s regulated entity, the protocol update does not involve asset custody.

According to Circle’s official blog, Circle’s cross-chain infrastructure, CCTP, has officially expanded to support the native cross-chain transfer of the euro-stablecoin EURC. EURC uses the same “burn-and-mint” model as USDC, with initial support for cross-chain settlement between Ethereum and Base. Developers can transfer both USDC and EURC through a unified interface, eliminating the need to integrate with multiple bridge providers, thereby reducing integration complexity and improving liquidity efficiency. EURC is issued by Circle’s regulated affiliate, and CCTP does not hold or manage user assets.
