Circle Announces Acquisition of Interop Labs to Accelerate Cross-Chain Interoperability

Circle has announced a deal to acquire Interop Labs, the team behind the Axelar cross-chain communication protocol. The move supports Circle’s Arc blockchain and cross-chain transfer protocol efforts. The Axelar network, AXL token, and foundation will remain community-run with open-source code. Common Prefix will take over Interop Labs’ work. The acquisition is set to close in early 2026.
