According to ChainCatcher, citing China Science and Technology Daily, a collaboration between China Information and Communication Technology Group’s National Key Laboratory of Optical Communication Technologies and Networks, Pengcheng Laboratory, and Fibrain Fiber Technology Co., Ltd., has successfully completed a 3.2 Pb/s real-time bidirectional transmission experiment over multi-core optical fiber, setting a new world record for real-time bidirectional optical transmission capacity on a single fiber. This rate exceeds the team’s previous record of 2.5 Pb/s set earlier this year, representing an improvement of nearly 30%. This speed equates to downloading over 20,000 4K movies in one second or supporting one million three hundred twenty thousand households simultaneously using gigabit broadband. The experiment utilized a 10.3-kilometer-long 24-core multi-core fiber combined with S+C+L band multiplexing and space-division multiplexing technologies. The maximum capacity of conventional commercial single-core G.652 fiber using C+L bands is approximately 100 Tb/s; this system achieves 32 times that capacity on a single fiber. The results have been submitted to the Journal of Lightwave Technology.

A Chinese team led by the National Key Laboratory of Optical Communication and Networks at China Information and Communications Technology Group has set a new real-world assets (RWA) benchmark with a 3.2 Pb/s real-time bidirectional fiber optic transmission test. The 24-core multicore fiber trial, conducted in collaboration with Pengcheng Lab and Fenghuo Takeuchi Fiber Optic Technology, represents a 30% increase over the team’s previous record of 2.5 Pb/s. This breakthrough establishes a new global standard for single-fiber bidirectional optical transmission capacity. New token listings on exchanges often reflect advancements in underlying infrastructure, and this development could indicate enhanced support for blockchain and data-intensive applications.
