IT Home, October 16: China Unicom announced today that it is granting highest-priority purchase eligibility for the iPhone Duo to long-term users who purchased genuine iPhones through China Unicom channels in 2009.
Relevant users can verify their identity on China Unicom’s official website; after the result shows “Preferred Friend,” they can proceed to the nearest authorized Apple store by China Unicom to purchase ahead of others.

On the evening of October 30, 2009, China Unicom held the first-ever iPhone launch event in China at the World Trade Skyway in Beijing, selling devices continuously and presenting buyers with numbered certificates. Most attendees that day were users who had subscribed to the 186-series 3G plans, making them the first legitimate iPhone users in mainland China.
According to Apple's official press release, the iPhone Duo is Apple's first foldable device. When unfolded, it features a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR inner display with a screen area 50% larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max; when closed, it has a 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR outer display with a screen area equivalent to 90% of the iPhone 18 Pro. Both displays share the same aspect ratio, support proportional content scaling, and feature ProMotion adaptive refresh rate, Always-On Display, and a peak outdoor brightness of up to 3000 nits.
The Apple China official website's technical specifications page states that the iPhone Duo is powered by the A20 Pro chip, built on a 2-nanometer process, featuring dual 16-core neural engines, and does not include a physical SIM card slot, supporting carrier activation exclusively via eSIM.
