China Aims to Quadruple AI Computing Power by 2030

China’s AI computing power is on track for a major boost, with the MIIT setting a 2030 target of 9,800 EFLOPS under its latest Five-Year Plan. As of July, national capacity stood at 2,450 EFLOPS (FP16), requiring a fourfold increase over four years. By June, capacity had already reached 2,185 EFLOPS, up 177% year-over-year. The plan includes deploying tens of thousands of GPU clusters and promoting domestically developed AI chips. With AI and crypto news gaining momentum, industry trends show a clear focus on expanding computational infrastructure.
