Huo Xing Cai Jing reports that Taiyuan Chengming Technology Co., Ltd. has sent a formal letter to Beijing Zhipu Huazhang Technology Co., Ltd., raising multiple demands regarding the alleged unauthorized upload of the company’s data assets and trade secrets via the ZCode client, and reserving the right to pursue legal action. Chengming Technology stated that although Zhipu has publicly apologized for the “silent upload of users’ local repository data” and claimed to have remedied the issue, independent forensic analysis revealed that the uploads were automatically triggered and occurred in bulk, including complete archival files such as full project source code, system architecture, version control history, database passwords, cloud service credentials, and employee personal information—far exceeding the scope of data collection disclosed in Zhipu’s Privacy Policy. Although the ZCode client was updated to version 3.12.3 on September 16, upload activity was still detected in the early hours of the day Zhipu issued its public apology, casting doubt on the effectiveness of the “fix.” Additionally, network requests from the ZCode client are directed to a Singapore-based entity, while the service agreement was signed with Beijing Zhipu Huazhang; Chengming Technology demands clarification on the responsible party for this upload and whether data has been transferred overseas or stored abroad. Chengming Technology requires Zhipu to provide a written response by October 10 and to immediately cease all processing and permanently delete all uploaded data and related derivative data, caches, and backups; provide a complete inventory of actions taken; clarify the destination of the data, whether it was shared with third parties, used for model training, or subject to cross-border transfer; explain the storage method of encryption private keys and provide complete operational logs; clarify the exact scope of “destruction” referenced in prior public statements; issue a certificate confirming deletion; provide a written commitment not to upload data without authorization; legally provide access to, copies of, and explanations regarding personal information; and designate an official point of contact. To date, Zhipu has not publicly responded to this letter.
