Chamath Palihapitiya mocked Claude AI after economist Dario Perkins shared a satirical disclaimer questioning AI’s reliability. Perkins warned of a potential bearish trend if the AI bubble bursts. Anthropic updated Claude Sonnet 5.5 and tightened security after cyberattacks. Billionaires Ray Dalio and Ken Griffin voiced concerns, while Blackstone executives dismissed the fear and greed index as overblown.

Venture capitalist Chamath Palihapitiya mocked Claude's writing on Saturday by sharing a post from TS Lombard economist Dario Perkins on X. Perkins' post included a satirical disclaimer about using Claude to write "The Perkini Report: The 2028 Reality Crisis." The disclaimer described Claude's output as a "poor, sloppy job" and joked that editing took more work than expected. The disclaimer also joked that Claude resisted naming particular companies and favored the term "standalone model developer."

The satirical disclaimer assigned responsibility for remaining errors to the AI rather than humans. The disclaimer concluded with the line "AI moves in mysterious ways," mocking the practice of blaming AI for mistakes. Perkins questioned whether an apparently obvious financial bubble could indeed prove to be a bubble and have bearish implications for markets. Perkins also suggested that warning signals existed, saying, "There were signs, there are always signs."

Anthropic tightened restrictions on Claude earlier this month after cyberattacks involving Anthropic's models. The restrictions covered influence campaigns, weapons and surveillance. A hacker used Claude against 40 organizations associated with France's far right. The hacker breached 14 organizations and stole sensitive information. The revised policy also reinforced election protections and requirements for human oversight of high-risk uses.

Anthropic introduced Claude Sonnet 5.5 last month. Anthropic claimed Claude Sonnet 5.5 was more than 30% faster than the predecessor model. Anthropic also claimed costs per task could be up to 30% lower than with the predecessor model. Claude Sonnet 5.5 introduced additional cybersecurity protections and improvements to coding capabilities. Anthropic planned to introduce Haiku 5.5 to complete a lineup of three models.

Billionaire investor Ray Dalio described AI as a "classic bubble" and warned that increasing debt and interest rates could move the bubble closer to bursting. Citadel LLC CEO Ken Griffin said investors were "almost certainly" experiencing an AI bubble, citing uncertainty about corporate spending and returns. However, Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman and President Jon Gray rejected bubble concerns, citing rapidly growing AI demand, constrained computing supply and strong revenue at Anthropic and OpenAI. Blackstone had also assembled a data center portfolio worth $200 billion.
