The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has launched a public consultation on expanding retail access to derivatives clearing. The proposal would let retail traders choose clearing platforms directly, bypassing traditional intermediaries. Options under review include a non-intermediated model and hybrid frameworks, with a focus on fund protection and market stability. A new DCO subclass is also being considered to manage fraud and operational risks. On-chain analysis shows growing retail activity in derivatives markets. Comments are due by January 19.
