Cardano Launches Phalanx to Strengthen PoS Security Against Grinding Attacks

The update introduces a verifiable delay function (VDF) to make such attacks computationally expensive and time-consuming, thereby enhancing the security of the Proof-of-Stake system. The change will be deployed via a hard fork, as it modifies the core protocol. The update also aims to improve network efficiency and decentralization by extending the random value generation process across two epochs.
