PANews, August 11: According to 36Kr, ByteDance has recently established a first-tier department, "AI Data & Security," operating at the same level as Seed, Flow, and Douyin, led by Adam Wang, formerly responsible for TikTok platform responsibility and live streaming. Its core mission is to provide cross-modal data services for all of ByteDance’s large models. The department integrates the Global Data team founded by Fu Yue, a founding member of TikTok, in 2023, along with the group’s data middleware DMC and the AI Data Platform (AIDP) under Flow, covering the entire data lifecycle—including data standardization, sourcing and procurement, synthesis and cleaning, quality evaluation, and security compliance. Previously, ByteDance has allocated over tens of millions of dollars in data budgets for training world models and code models, employing a "horse-racing" mechanism to organize teams by focus areas such as world models, code, and advanced academic disciplines.
