A 23-year-old Brooklyn man, Ronald Spektor, has been charged with stealing $16 million in cryptocurrency from around 100 Coinbase users using phishing scams. He posed as Coinbase staff, moved the funds through mixers and gambling sites, and shared details of the theft on Telegram. Authorities have seized about $505,000 in cash and crypto. Coinbase helped track the stolen funds and identify Spektor.
